Pokhara is the first and foremost a convenient point for mountain-oriented sightseeing. Mt. Annapurna lies at a horizontal distance of 40km from the valley of Pokhara, which is at an elevation of just 900m. The moment you step into any part of Pokhara including the airport, the immediate delight is the gorgeous view of the gigantic mountain. The change of color over the massif from purple to pink and to red during the moment of sunrise can easily lift your heart.
Chitwan National Park: Nepal’s first and most famous national park is situated in the lowlands of inner Terai. Covering an area of 932 sq. km the park includes hilly areas covered by deciduous forest. This ecologically diverse area is the last remaining home in Nepal for more than 300 of the endangered Asian one-horned rhinoceros and harbors one of the largest populations of the elusive and rare Royal Bengal Tiger. Beside the Rhino and Tiger, Chitwan also supports a great variety of flora and fauna. There are four species of deer, including the spotted Chittal, Leopard, Sloth bear, Wild boar, rhesus monkey, Grey langur monkey, wild dog, small wild cats, the white gaur (the world’s largest wild cattle) and many other smaller animals. In a stretch of the Narayani River is found one of the few remaining of populations of the rare and endangered fish-only eating Gharial or Gangetic crocodile. For the ornithologist and the amateur bird watcher the park offers excellent possibilities with more than 450 species.
Lumbini is the birthplace of Lord Buddha, the apostle of peace, compassion and non-violence. It is situate`d in Kapilvastu District of Lumbini Zone, the western Terai of Nepal, 250 Km. South west of Kathmandu. The broken Ashokan pillar, remnants of an old monastery, images of Buddha’s mother Maya Devi, etc are still preserved in Lumbini. It is accessible by air from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa from where one can proceed by car, or us some other means of Transportation. One can reach Lumbini in about 3 hours by bus or car from Tansen. From Kathmandu it takes eight hours by bus or car.
Tansen is a bright Himalayan town situated on the slopes of a hill called Shreenagar Danda. Situated at an altitude of 1343meter above sea level. Tansen is the most popular summer resort in western Nepal on account of its position and climate. It has perhaps Nepal’s most far stretching views of the country’s chief attraction the Himalayas, from Dhaulagiri in the west to Gaurishanker in the northeast. From Shreenagar Danda one can have the views of sweeping Tinau river valley below and the surrounding Mahabharat hills including Terai’s flat lands to the far south. Tansen is the headquarter of Palpa District.
